This introductory course on how to play the violin covers the basics of technique, scales and exercises, music theory, and repertoire. Students will learn how to properly hold the violin and bow, produce sound, and tune the instrument. They will also practice basic scales, exercises and bowing techniques to develop finger strength, dexterity, and control. In addition, the course will cover basic music notation and symbols, time signatures, and key signatures to develop the theoretical understanding of the instrument. Finally, students will learn simple songs and melodies in various musical styles and genres to apply their newfound skills. By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation in the basics of playing the violin and the tools to continue their studies on their own.
