This module will develop analytical and writing techniques that are continuations of skills begun in AP Theory. Students will also acquire a basic understanding of the orchestral instruments, their ranges, and their transpositions.

What You’ll Learn

an ability to analyze tonal harmony of increasing sophistication and difficulty, including chromatic materials;
an ability to employ devices of increasing sophistication and difficulty in part writing;
an ability to recognize and manipulate this language in figured bass; and,
an ability to write basic arrangements for all of the orchestral instruments
